A future in beta

This isn't the website of Eguzki Bideoak, as a matter of fact we ask ourselves if this is the Eguzki Bideoak website that we imagine could come to exist. What you see here is simply a route mapped out in black and white, which points towards, which gives us a sense of and a glimpse of a path completely in Beta. This is because our aim is to become a political reference on the Net for those who wish to see, to find, to make and to promote social documentaries of quality and with emancipatory vocations. Audiovisual creation, alternative communication, video-activism, free licensing and free culture... are all in the open and collective process of searching for technological tools and using all the force held within its electric blue interior with which to develop.

Whether it's in the clouds, in streaming or in downloads, alternative collaboration for the integration of subtitles... Each small step encompasses in itself a debate and the positioning of ourselves on what we want this to be, not only the Eguzki Bideoak website, but also the internet of the future, which is now. It is in this stage of construction that we find ourselves, searching for the maximum number possible of opinions and helping hands. There are many ideas better than our own, and without a doubt, knowledge grows through its sharing.

Although within all this, something we do have clear, some of our objectives:

-Create a tool of global reference when it comes to debate on issues such as production, distribution and contents of documentaries.

-To have at our disposal an extensive and quality catalogue of documentaries of a social content, chosen under certain criteria, which can be viewed online.

-That the political and communicative content of the documentaries, generates new forms of paradigms in production, distribution and in how we consume audiovisual material.

-Create synergy between distributors, film makers, “the public”...offer a space to videoactivistas and socio-political groups promoting and facilitating the exchange of knowledge, technologies, economic resources and experiences.

-The proposal of a decentralised, collective tool, with which a network of transnational collaboration is created, subtitling as an example. This should be one of the basic tools in internationalising the project and that the website reaches the dimension of a global encounter point.
